Bio of Jonathan Swift Jonathan Swift was born in Dublin on November 30, 1667. His father had died before his birth, and soon after he was born, his bring round returned to Leicestershire. He was left in the care of his three uncles, specially his Uncle Godwin. It is believed that this situation, along with his unstable homelife, led to a sense of endangerment and abandonment that he carried with him for the rest of his life. At age 6, he was sent to the best school in Ireland, the Kilkenny School. Then at age 15 he entered Trinity College, located in Dublin.
